Call for Papers
The deadline for papers has expired.
The second annual Parallel conference, Parallel 2013, will take place at the IHK Karlsruhe on May 15 through May 17, 2013. Parallel 2013 is a software conference for parallel programming, concurrency, and multicore systems hosted by heise Developer, the Heise-Online-Channel for software development, and dpunkt.verlag, publisher of computer reference books. The first event in 2012 experienced keen interest and was booked early by more than 150 participants.
The conference is designed for software architects, developers, project managers, and IT-strategists and will cover the fundamentals and key aspects of parallel software development and concurrent programming.
Due to the positive responses from Parallel 2012, the conference board will markedly extend the number of talks and offer a full third track of presentations. To help attendants better find their talks of interest, topics will be organized by themes.
We are interested in the following presentation topics:
Foundations
- Memory models, task and data parallelism
- Basic architectural decision-making for the application of parallelized software
- Modern programming models and parallel strategies, such as Actors, Agents, Software Transactional Memory, MapReduce, DataFlow, and functional programming
- Well established multithreading and sync mechanisms
- Design patterns for parallel and concurrent programming
- Parallel accelerators such as GPUs/co-processors (CUDA, OpenCL, OpenGL, and AMP)
Programming / Languages
- Experiences with widespread programming platforms such as Java, .NET, and C/C++, including dedicated libraries
- Experiences in languages such as Ada, Erlang, F#, Fortran, Scala, Clojure, and Groovy
- Experiences with DSLs (Domain Specific Languages) for parallel programming
- Language extensions and libraries for parallelization
Practical Experiences
- Field reports
- Analysis of existing applications for parallelization
- Field reports of current or finalized projects within different industries
- Field reports regarding real time and functional security within embedded development
- Field reports regarding mobile multicore systems
Tools
- Important tools within parallel programming
- Tools for testing or proofing correctness of parallel applications
The hosts of the conference invite parallel programming experts to submit presentations and tutorials for the conference by January 14th, 2013.
We are looking for presentations up to 90 minutes long, or short sessions of up to 40 minutes. Tutorials have been scheduled for full days. Please send short abstracts (400–600 characters) as well as long abstracts (maximum of one DIN-A4 page) of your proposed presentation by January 14th, 2013.
